INTRODUCTION
************
Astro-World 2.1 is an Astrological program for Windows 3.1 with print and
screen evaluations for Radix-, Synastry- and Transit Horoscopes.
Furthermore there is a text evaluation of the birth-chart of about 25
pages. 6 different House- systems the most common being Placidus, Koch as
well as Equal-House.
Astro-World is capable of the following features:
* Radix-Horoscope, on-screen and printer (25 pages.)
* Synastry-Horoscope (about 5 pages)
* Transit-Horoscope at the moment without interpretation.
* An integrated data-base for people and places. Both
data-bases can be expanded to around 2.1 billion entries.
* The included database of places has about 2000 localities.
Additional location databases are available, sorted by country,
and by state for the USA (total 150,000 places worldwide).
* Up to ten Horoscopes can be displayed simultaneously in different
windows on the screen.
* Display windows also include a legend, an Aspectarium, and chart data.
* The chart, table and font can be sized or adapted individually in
each of the above mentioned windows.
* An Aspect-toolbox allows for switching particular aspects on and
off interactively. The result is dynamically shown in the Horoscope
chart.
* The printed evaluation may be set with any available font, and in any
size. Headings, body text, aspects, planets and signs may be assigned
various colors. Therefore, with a color-printer at your disposal,
you can design your evaluations and graphics to be as colorful as
desired.
* If you don't like the shape of the chart, it can be changed--even
including the width of the lines for the circle and aspects.
The Professional Version additionally contains:
* The provision to add your own texts to the evaluation database and
use these texts together or instead of Astro-WorldsÆ.
* Text output can be redirected to a file, for structure manipulation in
a Windows Wordprocessor (ASCII or RTF structure).
* The Copyright-line with our names is replaced by
"License: <User's Name>" providing the explicit
right to sell the horoscope-printouts.
This program is not only targeted at Astrologers, but also for people who
prefer to deal with Astrology in a less serious way! If you just want to
print horoscopes for you and your friends, this program might be it!
Even for the serious Astrologer, this program in its present version might
leave a few wishes unfullfilled. However, you will quickly note the
numerous efforts made to improve the present version in comparison to its
predecessors--especially with respect to the professional version. Some of
the recognized items for future addition are Directions, Progressions, and
a planetary clock. We will try to develop this program in a way that both
groups of potential users become happier and happier as time goes by,
particularly in the Professional Version.
Many people will realize that this program offers a great opportunity make
money by selling horoscopes. It is not unusual to ask for $25.00 and the
professional quality output from Astro-World should more than support this.
Language Versions
*****************
German Version of Astro-World 2.1. (Available)
Spanish and French version are nearly finished (Target release Feb' 1995)
Norwegian, Swedish, Finnish, Polish, Italian, Greek, Turkish, Slovenian,
Kroation and Serbian versions are currently being translated.
SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
*******************
The program was developed on an Intel-486-computer with a VGA-screen and a
Postscript-Laser-printer under Windows 3.1 and DOS 6.2.
Astro-World 2.1 will run on every (DOS) Computer equipped with Windows 3.1
or higher. To obtain a clear graphic image, a VGA display of at least 14
inches is required.
The use of a Laser-printer or HP-DeskJet 550C will provide excellent
Printout-quality. Often, the resulting quality of a matrix-printer is
highly dependant on the abilities of the installed driver. Alas, we have
experienced some drivers to have problems with Horoscope-chart printing. In
such cases, our advice would be to try different fonts and sizes.
INSTALLATION
************
The whole Package will be delivered on two 3-1/2" Diskettes, labeled
"Setup-Disk" and "Disk 2". If you downloaded the files, make sure that they
are extracted and copied to two diskettes.
Now, follow the Setup-Instructions in the file: AWINSTALL.TXT
After the installation of the program you must add the TrueType font

PROBLEMS / ERRORS
*****************
In case you encounter any Problems with the Program (especially with the
printout), please refer to the chapter "Known Problems / Troubleshooting"
in the Help-System. It is a compendium of all questions, which have been
asked of me by dozens of users during the last two years. Thus, one might
say, it contains my whole treasury of knowledge about problems to date.
According to my experience, the probability of finding a solution here is
very high!
SHAREWARE VERSION
*****************
You are hereby licensed to: use the Shareware Version of the software for a
30 day evaluation period; make as many copies of the Shareware version of
this software and documentation as you wish; give exact copies of the
original Shareware version to anyone; and distribute the Shareware version
of the software and documentation in its unmodified form via electronic
means. There is no charge for any of the above.
You are specifically prohibited from charging, or requesting donations, for
any such copies, however made; and from distributing the software and/or
documentation with other products (commercial or otherwise) without prior
written permission, with one exception: Shareware Disk Vendors are
permitted to redistribute Astro-World 2.1, subject to the conditions in
this license, without specific written permission.
Unregistered use of Astro-World after the 21-day evaluation period is in
violation of copyright laws.
EVALUATION AND REGISTRATION
***************************
This is not free software. This license allows you to use this software for
evaluation purposes without charge for a period of 30 days. If you use this
software after the 30 day evaluation period a registration fee of US$ 65 (ú
43) is required. Payments may be in any currency. Please see ORDERxx.TXT
for details how to pay in your local currency.
One registered copy of Astro-World 2.1 may be dedicated to a single person
who uses the software on one or more computers or to a single workstation
used by multiple people.
DEFINITION OF SHAREWARE
***********************
Shareware distribution gives users a chance to try software before buying
it. If you try a Shareware program and continue using it, you are expected
to register. Individual programs differ on details -- some request
registration while others require it, some specify a maximum trial period.
With registration, you get anything from the simple right to continue using
the software to an updated program with printed manual.
Copyright laws apply to both Shareware and commercial software, and the
copyright holder retains all rights, with a few specific exceptions as
stated below. Shareware authors are accomplished programmers, just like
commercial authors, and the programs are of comparable quality. (In both
cases, there are good programs and bad ones!) The main difference is in the
method of distribution. The author specifically grants the right to copy
and distribute the software, either to all and sundry or to a specific
group. For example, some authors require written permission before a
commercial disk vendor may copy their Shareware.
Shareware is a distribution method, not a type of software. You should find
software that suits your needs and pocketbook, whether it's commercial or
Shareware. The Shareware system makes fitting your needs easier, because
you can try before you buy. And because the overhead is low, prices are low
also. Shareware has the ultimate money-back guarantee -- if you don't use
the product, you don't pay for it.
DISCLAIMER - AGREEMENT
**********************
Users of Astro-World 2.1 must accept this disclaimer of warranty: "Astro-
World 2.1 is supplied as is. The author disclaims all warranties, expressed
or implied, including, without limitation, the warranties of
merchantability and of fitness for any purpose. The author assumes no
liability for damages, direct or consequential, which may result from the
use of Astro-World 2.1."
Astro-World 2.1 is a "shareware program" and is provided at no charge to
the user for evaluation. Feel free to share it with your friends, but
please do not give it away altered or as part of another system. The
essence of "user-supported" software is to provide personal computer users
with quality software without high prices, and yet to provide incentive for
programmers to continue to develop new products. If you find this program
useful and find that you are using Astro-World 2.1 and continue to use
Astro-World 2.1 after a reasonable trial period, you must make a
registration payment of US $65 to Kenneth Hirst. The US $65 registration
fee will license one copy for use on any one computer at any one time. You
must treat this software just like a book. An example is that this software
may be used by any number of people and may be freely moved from one
computer location to another, so long as there is no possibility of it
being used at one location while it's being used at another. Just as a book
cannot be read by two different persons at the same time.
Commercial users of Astro-World 2.1 must register and pay for their copies
of Astro-World 2.1 within 30 days of first use or their license is
withdrawn. Site-License arrangements may be made by contacting the Author.
You are encouraged to pass a copy of Astro-World 2.1 along to your friends
for evaluation. Please encourage them to register their copy if they find
that they can use it.
ASP OMBUDSMAN STATEMENT
***********************

Professionals (ASP). ASP wants to make sure that the shareware principle
works for you. If you are unable to resolve a shareware-related problem
with an ASP member by contacting the member directly, ASP may be able to
help. The ASP Ombudsman can help you resolve a dispute or problem with an
ASP member, but does not provide technical support for members' products.
